Pair of early Sèvres soft-paste porclain pot-pourris 'Pompadour' (Troisième grandeur), 3rd size, painted with fruit and flowers. Date letter F for 1759 Painters mark for Charles-Louis Méreaud le jeune (Active 1756-80) Painter - Flowers, patterns. Literature: R. Savill, The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain Vol. I pp.127-135., and A. Sassoon, The J. Paul Getty : Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain, p. 12 -16 19 for discussion on this pot pourri shape. Interestingly, one of the underside’s of the base is glazed, whilst the other is unglazed.
