Description
|
Sèvres cup and saucer (Gobelet litron et soucoupe), painted with an intricate scale pattern and gilded cartouches of trophies. Date letter P for 1768 Painted by Charles Buteux l'aîné later père (Active 1756-82) Painter - Figures, trophies and flowers. Forms of scale decoration were used from the 1750's; Madame de Pompadour's inventory lists tea wares decorated with scale reminiscent of peacock feathers. Cup 4.5cm High Saucer almost 11cm Dia.
