Description
|
An extremely fine and rare garniture of three Barr, Flight and Barr Worcester vases representing the finest neo-classical and picturesque traditions from the Worcester workshops. The vases are decorated with an intricate gilded vermiculi pattern, applied white pearls, the handles formed as entwined gilt double headed serpents, the central vase with a cover and gilt flame finial. The reverse with finely executed formal gilding all reserved on a salmon pink ground.
The large vase – is painted with “Scene on the Wye, near Goodrich Castle” inscribed on the base
One of the small vases – is painted with “Colchester Castle, Essex” inscribed on the base
The other small vase – is painted with “Beauchief Abbey, Derbyshire” inscribed on the base
