Description
|
A very rare Chelsea dessert plate, painted with a rich mazarine blue ground and a central panel of coloured enamels with three British birds perched on leafy branches of a tree in a landscape setting, within a gilt interlinked scroll border, the outer border with a band of gilt decorative scrolls, and the indented rim with a gilt dentil band. Gold anchor mark. 21cm Dia. Provenance: Thomas, 2nd Marquess of Bath (1765-1847), Longleat, Wiltshire, and by descent until sold Christies London on Thursday June 13th, 2002, part lot 314
