Description An extremely rare Bohemian Grog Box or Grog Chest. Illustrated in the “Decanter- an illustrated history” - McConnel has these cased bottles dated from 1790 to 1820. However, they were made for a much longer period, there is an engraving by Nicholas Eastman Circa 1600, showing a cased bottle being removed from an oak chest.

The Victoria and Albert Museumhave a Bohemian pattern book circa 1825 showing a metal bound oak chest with six decanters and a couple of glasses, a smaller and less impressive version of this example.
