Description
|
An extremely rare dome shaped Egyptian inspired metal Japanese scent bottle cradled within a ‘three legged’ tripod yellow metal stand. The bottle has a crescent and double waist gilt metal screw top, and is finely decorated in gold with detailed Egyptian figures, religious figures, deities, a table with offerings, two large flying scarab beetles, hieroglyphs, and a frieze of birds around the base.
Late 19th century/early 20th century, Japanese
'Mount Fuji and Fence' maker's mark to the base.
Height of scent bottle without stand 10cm.
Height including stand 15cm.
