Description
|
An extremely rare and small Meissen white Böttger porcelain model of a Chinese seated Pagoda, or Magot.
8cm High
Pagoda's or Magot's are Chinese-inspired figures made at the Meissen factory with several different models, the earliest dating from the Böttger period (1715–20). They are small seated figures, sometimes with tea accoutrements, often with open mouths, perhaps intended for incense burners.
The Pagoda was based on the Buddhist monk Pu-tai Ho-shang, who was a Chinese Buddhist monk.
