Description
|
A rare Meissen chinoiserie group modelled by J.J. Kändler of a lady embracing a seated gentleman musician by a tripod table, on which sits a coffee pot, a bowl and saucer filled with coffee and a sugar bowl. She holds an empty bowl and saucer in her right hand while he serenades her with a mandolin. A green parrot sits on the leg of the table; her foot rests on a chess board and a closed orange parasol is by her side. Literature: P. Brattig, Meissen Barokes Porzellan ; Cover Illustration and pp.150-1, no. 58
