This wonderful diminutive teapot has a brace-shaped handle and an octagonal faceted spout on a bullet shaped body painted with Kakiemon inspired garlands of flowers suspended from five Böttger lustre enriched and gilded petals and an under-glazed blue and gilt border above another continuous half moon shaped and lined decorated border. The Kakiemon flowers extend along the handle and spout.
Crossed swords in under-glaze blue
Circa 1730
8.5cm High (to top of finial)
Condition
The tip of the spout with some extremely good restoration and there are two tiny chips to the inside of the flange of the cover - invisible to the naked eye when the cover is sitting on the pot.
