Description

An extraordinary Sèvres hard paste cup and saucer (Goblet litron et soucoupe)
Marks: Interlaced ‘L’s in purple with a crown denoting a hard paste body. Date letter aa for 1778, decorator’s mark to saucer bq for Louis-Thomas Bauquerrec (1772-95). Experimental large markings in a dark underglaze blue to each piece: Marks: Cup: 24B 1 (triangle) 2.77, incised initials: saucer: 277.1 (triangle).
